Dog Date™ values your privacy and the protection of your personal data. This privacy policy describes what information we collect from you, how we collect it, how we use it, how we obtain your consent, how long we keep it in our databases and, if necessary, with whom we share it.
By downloading and installing the application on your mobile device, you agree to the practices described in this privacy policy. In this privacy policy, the words ‘platform’ and ‘application’ refer to the Dog Date mobile application, ‘we,’ ‘us,’ ‘our,’ and ‘Dog Date’ refer to Dog Date™, and ‘you’ and ‘user’ refer to you, the user of Dog Date.

Your continued use of the platform after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check this policy periodically for updates. Where consent is the applicable legal basis for a particular processing activity, Dog Date obtains such consent freely, specifically, informedly and unambiguously through an appropriate affirmative action or consent mechanism, in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (“UK GDPR”) and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”).
2.2. Depending on the relevant feature or processing activity, users may voluntarily provide information or give consent through activities including, but not limited to:

2.4. Consent is used as a legal basis only where appropriate or required under applicable law. Not all processing carried out by Dog Date necessarily relies on consent. Depending on the nature and purpose of the processing, Dog Date may rely on another lawful basis recognised under applicable data protection law, including processing necessary to perform a contract with the user, compliance with a legal obligation, or the legitimate interests of Dog Date or a third party, provided that such interests are not overridden by the user’s applicable rights and freedoms.
2.5. Where processing is based on consent, users may withdraw that consent at any time through the privacy controls or account settings made available within the application, where applicable, or by contacting Dog Date through the contact methods provided in this Privacy Policy. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out on the basis of valid consent before its withdrawal.
2.6. Where consent is necessary to provide a particular optional feature or functionality, withdrawing or refusing consent may prevent Dog Date from providing that specific feature. However, refusal or withdrawal of consent to non-essential analytics, advertising or tracking technologies will not, by itself, prevent the user from accessing core Dog Date functionality that does not reasonably require those technologies.
2.7. Acceptance of this Privacy Policy acknowledges that the user has been informed about Dog Date’s collection, use and processing of personal information as described herein. However, acceptance of this Privacy Policy, registration of an account, or continued use of Dog Date will not by itself be treated as consent where applicable law requires a separate, specific affirmative action.

Where separate consent is required, including for certain non-essential analytics, advertising measurement, attribution or tracking activities, Dog Date will provide an appropriate consent mechanism through which users can make an informed choice before the relevant processing is activated, where required by applicable law.

Dog Date collects various types of personal and technical information when users interact with the application, create accounts, complete profiles, upload documentation, participate in matchmaking, use messaging features, or make payments. Personal data provided by users through the platform will be retained for the time necessary to fulfil the legitimate purposes described in section 5 of this policy and/or until the user stops using the platform, closes the user account, uninstalls the app or requests the deletion of their data. Dog Date may retain personal data for a longer period provided that the user has given consent to such processing, as long as such consent is not withdrawn. In addition, Dog Date may be obliged to retain personal data for a longer period if required to do so in order to comply with a legal obligation or by order of an authority. Once the retention period has expired, the personal data will be deleted. Therefore, the right of access, the right of deletion, the right of rectification and the right of data portability cannot be asserted after the retention period has expired.

The personal information of our customers and users is an important and fundamental part of our platform. Under no circumstances will we sell or share information with third parties that has not been previously authorised by the user or owner of the personal data. We share user information only and exclusively as described below.
6.1. Third-Party Service Providers. We use third-party services to perform certain functions on our platform. Some of these functions and services include: hosting the application in app stores (App Store and Google Play), data storage services, payment processing (Apple Pay and Google Pay), sending emails, sending push notifications, Artificial Intelligence services, and performing tracking and analysis functions on the platform.
These third-party services and tools may have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use that information for other purposes. Information shared with these third-party services will be treated and stored in accordance with their respective privacy policies and our privacy policy.
6.2. Data Transfer between Users: Dog Date informs its users that certain data provided when creating a profile, both for the user and the dog, may be visible to other users of the platform in order to allow the proper functioning of the matching, interaction and communication features provided in the application. This data transfer is limited to the information that the user has decided to upload and make public in accordance with the visibility settings and terms of use of Dog Date. Certain sensitive documents or data, such as vaccination certificates or breed registrations, will remain hidden and will only be accessible after confirmation of a match and fulfilment of the relevant requirements, including payment.
The user understands and accepts that they are solely responsible for the data they choose to include in their profile, as well as any additional information they voluntarily share through the internal messaging system or other means within the platform. Dog Date is not responsible for the use that other users may make of information that has been intentionally disclosed by the profile owner. All users are advised to exercise caution, avoid sharing unnecessary personal data, and refrain from posting information that they do not wish to be accessible to third parties.
6.3. Notifications and communications: By registering and using Dog Date, the user expressly authorizes the sending of notifications related to the use of the platform, as well as commercial or promotional communications. These notifications may be sent via push messages within the application and emails addressed to the address registered by the user. Notifications may include alerts about matches, new messages, profile updates, changes to services, payment or subscription reminders, and informational or promotional campaigns that Dog Date deems relevant.
The user can manage their preferences from their account settings, where they can enable or disable certain categories of notifications, except those of a strictly operational nature. In the case of marketing emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link provided at the bottom of each message. Dog Date respects the user's decisions regarding communications and will limit the sending of messages in accordance with the selected settings and the provisions of this privacy policy.
6.4. Business Transfers. In the event that Dog Date creates, merges with, or is acquired by another entity, your information will most likely be transferred. Dog Date will email you or place a prominent notice on our platform before your information becomes subject to another privacy policy.
6.5. Protection of Dog Date and others. By registering and using Dog Date, you consent to our disclosure of personal information when we believe it is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce or apply our terms and conditions and other binding agreements, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Dog Date, our users, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organizations for fraud protection and credit risk reduction.
6.6. With Your Consent. Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when personally identifiable information about you might go to third parties, and you will have an opportunity to choose not to share the information.
7.1. Dog Date uses analytics, measurement, attribution, advertising and communication technologies to understand how users interact with the application, evaluate the performance and reliability of the platform, measure the effectiveness of Dog Date advertising campaigns, improve features and user experience, and deliver push notifications. These technologies may involve software development kits (“SDKs”), device identifiers, app instance identifiers and similar technologies integrated into the Dog Date mobile application.
7.2. Technologies We Use
7.2.1. Dog Date currently uses the following technologies and third-party services:

Where such changes materially affect the way personal information is collected or used, Dog Date will update this Privacy Policy and, where required by applicable law, obtain any necessary consent before activating the relevant technology.
7.3. Consent and User Choices
7.3.1. Where applicable law requires consent for the use of analytics, advertising, attribution or similar technologies, Dog Date will request the user’s permission through an appropriate consent mechanism before enabling the relevant non-essential processing. Users may be provided with options to accept, reject or manage particular categories of tracking or measurement technologies, depending on their device, operating system, jurisdiction and the functionality being used.
7.3.2. On Apple iOS devices, users may also be presented with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (“ATT”) prompt where applicable. If the user grants tracking permission, the device’s Identifier for Advertisers (“IDFA”) may be made available to Meta for purposes such as advertising attribution, campaign measurement and retargeting. If permission is denied, Dog Date will not make the IDFA available for those purposes through the applicable tracking functionality. Dog Date may also use Apple’s SKAdNetwork or successor privacy-preserving attribution technologies to measure advertising performance.
7.3.3. On Android devices, Firebase and Meta technologies may process the Google Advertising ID where available and permitted by the device, operating system, application permissions and the user’s privacy settings. Dog Date may request the Android AD_ID permission where necessary for advertising measurement and attribution.
7.3.4. Where Dog Date implements an in-app consent mechanism on Android or any other operating system, the same principles described in this section will apply to the relevant analytics and advertising technologies. Users may also exercise certain controls through their device or operating-system privacy settings.
7.3.5. Consent to non-essential analytics or advertising technologies, where legally required, is separate from acceptance of the general Terms and Conditions and is not a condition of accessing functionality that does not reasonably require such technologies. A user’s refusal or withdrawal of consent will not invalidate processing that lawfully occurred before the withdrawal.
7.4. Information Collected Automatically
7.4.1. When permitted by applicable law and the user’s applicable privacy choices, Dog Date and its analytics providers may automatically collect information concerning the installation, operation and use of the application. Depending on the technology involved, this information may include:
7.4.2. Dog Date does not intentionally send users’ names, email addresses, telephone numbers, photographs, private messages or precise location information to Google Analytics for Firebase or Meta App Events as part of the analytics implementation described in this section.
7.5. Application Events and Event Parameters
7.5.1. Dog Date may record events representing significant interactions or actions performed within the application. These events enable Dog Date to understand how features are used and to evaluate the effectiveness of the platform and its advertising campaigns.
7.5.2. Events may include, among others:
Depending on the event, associated parameters may include information such as the registration method, dog profile type, match identifier, product identifier, price and currency.
7.5.3. Dog Date seeks to limit event parameters to information reasonably necessary for analytics, measurement and advertising purposes and does not intentionally include the content of private messages, photographs, precise location data, names, email addresses or telephone numbers in these analytics events.
7.6. Account-Linked Analytics
7.6.1. Before registration, analytics activity may be associated with application, installation, device or pseudonymous identifiers generated by the relevant technology.
7.6.2. After a user registers for Dog Date, certain analytics events may be associated with the internal unique identifier (“UUID”) assigned to the user’s Dog Date account. Dog Date does not transmit the user’s name or email address as the analytics identifier for this purpose. However, because Dog Date maintains the relationship between the internal UUID and the corresponding account within its own systems, Dog Date may be able to associate analytics activity linked to that UUID with a particular registered account.
7.6.3. This information may be used to understand application usage across authenticated sessions, investigate technical or operational issues, evaluate feature adoption, improve the platform and measure relevant conversion events, subject to applicable privacy requirements and user choices.
7.7. Advertising Measurement and Attribution
7.7.1. Dog Date uses Meta App Events and related technologies to measure the effectiveness of Dog Date’s own advertising campaigns, including determining whether advertisements result in registrations, profile activations, matches, purchases or other relevant application events.
7.7.2. Where permitted, this information may also be used for advertising attribution, campaign optimisation and retargeting. Advertising identifiers may be processed for these purposes where they are available and their use is permitted by applicable law, the operating system and the user’s privacy selections.
7.7.3. Dog Date uses these technologies to measure and optimise its own advertising activities and does not sell users’ personal information to Google, Meta or other analytics providers in exchange for monetary consideration.
7.8. Purposes of Analytics and Tracking
7.8.1. Information collected through the technologies described in this section may be processed for purposes including:
7.8.2. Dog Date will not use information collected through these technologies for purposes materially incompatible with those described in this Privacy Policy without providing appropriate notice and, where required, obtaining additional consent.
7.9. Push Notifications and Firebase Cloud Messaging
7.9.1. Dog Date uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to facilitate push notifications. This service may process application installation identifiers, device-related information and notification tokens necessary to identify the relevant app installation and deliver notifications to the appropriate device.
7.9.2. Push notification infrastructure is operationally distinct from advertising measurement. Users may manage their permission to receive push notifications through the Dog Date settings where available and through the notification settings provided by their device or operating system.
7.9.3. Disabling push notifications may prevent certain alerts from appearing directly on the device but does not necessarily prevent Dog Date from providing essential account information through other available channels, such as email or in-app communications.
7.10. Third-Party Recipients
7.10.1. Information processed through the technologies described above may be disclosed or made available to third-party technology providers acting in connection with analytics, attribution, advertising measurement and notification services. These providers currently include:

Depending on the user's location and the infrastructure used by these providers, information may be processed in countries other than the country in which the user resides. 7.11. Managing or Withdrawing Consent
7.11.1. Where processing is based on consent, users may withdraw or modify that consent at any time through the privacy or consent controls made available by Dog Date, where applicable. Users may also control certain advertising and tracking permissions through their iOS or Android device settings, including Apple's tracking controls and the advertising privacy settings made available by Android.
7.11.2. Withdrawal of consent may prevent Dog Date or its providers from performing certain analytics, advertising attribution, personalisation or retargeting activities. However, withdrawal will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn and may not prevent processing that Dog Date is independently permitted or required to perform under applicable law.
7.11.3. Dog Date will respect users’ applicable privacy choices and will configure its analytics and advertising technologies, where technically available and legally required, to reflect those choices.
8.1. The Dog Date app does not use cookies in the traditional sense used by web browsers. However, to ensure the optimal functioning of the platform, to provide a personalised experience, and to perform analytics, security, and advertising functions, various technical technologies equivalent or similar to cookies are used. These technologies allow us to collect and store information about the user's device, their interactions within the application, and certain technical parameters that facilitate the provision and continuous improvement of the service.

8.5. The user can limit or disable some of these technologies through the settings of their device's operating system, although this may affect the functioning or availability of certain features of the application.
We grant access to your personal information only to those outside persons or services that have a legitimate need to know it and in accordance with our privacy policy. We adhere to industry-recognised security standards to protect your personal information, both during transmission and in storage. However, it is important to note that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is foolproof and 100% secure. Therefore, while we at Dog Date strive to implement commercially viable data protection methods, we cannot ensure absolute security of your personal information. We undertake not to sell, distribute or transfer your personal data to unauthorised third parties, unless we have your explicit consent or are required by law to do so.
In the event of a security breach that compromises the confidentiality of our users' personal data, Dog Date undertakes to notify those affected within a reasonable period of time. We will take all reasonable measures to protect the information and remedy any situation that jeopardises the security of your data.

Dog Date informs users that, in the course of providing and operating its services, certain personal data may be transferred to, stored in, accessed from, or otherwise processed in countries outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (“EEA”). However, Dog Date will not treat the user's general acceptance of these Terms, registration of an account, or continued use of the application as a substitute for explicit consent to an international transfer where applicable law requires such consent.

However, the operation and security of third-party infrastructure may also be governed by the respective provider's terms, privacy practices, and applicable legal obligations.

Dog Date is intended exclusively for individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years of age. Individuals under the age of 18 are not permitted to register for an account, create a profile, or use the platform.
Dog Date does not knowingly collect or process personal information from individuals under the age of 18 through registered user accounts. By registering for Dog Date, users represent and confirm that they are at least 18 years old.
If Dog Date becomes aware that an individual under the age of 18 has created an account or provided personal information in violation of this age requirement, Dog Date may suspend or terminate the account and will take reasonable steps to delete or otherwise appropriately handle the personal information concerned, subject to applicable legal obligations.
